Job summary

Coloma Community Schools in Michigan is seeking a part-time Choir Teacher for grades 6-12 to develop and implement a vocal program that engages all students and enhances choir participation.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Education with Music Education K-12 certification or willingness to obtain it, has experience teaching choral music, and can motivate, communicate well, and collaborate with staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education from an accredited college or university.
  • Highly qualified with Music Education (K-12) from the Michigan Department of Education or willing to obtain one.
  • Previous experience teaching choral music to middle or high school students.
  • Strong knowledge of vocal techniques, music theory, and choral repertoire.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students to achieve their musical goals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other music teachers and school staff.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive choral program for grades 6-12.
  • Plan and conduct rehearsals, performances, and concerts.
  • Teach proper vocal techniques, music theory, and sight-reading.
  • Select and arrange music appropriate for the choir's skill level.
  • Collaborate with other music teachers and staff to plan school-wide events.
  • Evaluate student progress and provide feedback to students and parents.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and performance data.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our school as a part-time Choir Teacher. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive vocal program that fosters a love for music and enhances the musical abilities of our students and multiple choirs grade 6-12.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive choral program that is inclusive of all students, regardless of their skill level or prior experience.
  • Plan and conduct rehearsals, performances, and concerts for the school choir.
  • Teach students proper vocal techniques, music theory, and sight-reading skills.
  • Select and arrange music appropriate for the choir's skill level and style preferences.
  • Collaborate with other music teachers and staff to plan and coordinate school-wide musical events.
  • Evaluate student progress and provide feedback to students and parents on a regular basis.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance data.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in music education.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education from an accredited college or university
  • Applicants must be highly qualified with Music Education (JQ) K-12 from the Michigan Department of Education or be willing to obtain one
  • Previous experience teaching choral music to students at the middle or high school level.
  • Strong knowledge of vocal techniques, music theory, and choral repertoire.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students to achieve their musical goals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other music teachers and school staff.

  • An additional stipend starting at $3,080 will also be paid annual off of schedule B for being the Choir Director
