Job summary

Gull Lake Community Schools seeks a Band Teacher for the High School to lead band and choir programs and cultivate student excellence under the direction of the principal.

Qualified candidates hold a BS/BA in Education and a Michigan teaching certificate with Music Education endorsement; demonstrated ability to assess progress and communicate effectively; familiarity with Skyward and Google Workspace is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum BS/BA degree in Education and a valid Michigan teaching certificate with endorsement in Music Education.
• Ability to assess and document student progress.
• Professional in personal conduct and actions and excellent communication skills.
• Meets federal ESSA requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to high school students
• Provide and maintain an orderly classroom environment
• Monitor and document student progress through Skyward student management program
• Work independently and cooperatively using a variety of instructional strategies
• Ability to plan and organize; excellent work habits
• Willing to attend conferences and participate in professional development
• Successful teaching/coaching of students preferred
• Perform other duties as assigned by administration

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the principal, the teacher would be working with high school students to achieve excellence in the area of Band and Choir.

Qualifications:

Required:

1. Minimum of BS/BA degree in Education
2. Possess or be eligible for a valid Michigan teaching certificate with an endorsement in Music Education (JQ or JX)
3. Able to assess and document student progress
4. Professional in personal conduct and actions
5. Excellent communication skills
6. Meets federal Every Student Succeeds Act requirements

Desired Characteristics:

1. Experience in working with all aspects of a high school music program, Marching band, Choir, and Music. .
2. Experience using technology as an instructional tool in the classroom
3. Experience in working within a Professional Learning Community
4. Knowledge of Skyward Student Information System and Google Workspace

Duties:
