Job summary

Knife River Corporation - Mountain West in Boise, Idaho, seeks a seasoned Foreman to supervise asphalt paving crews and oversee chipseal operations. You will coordinate activities, maintain safety standards, and communicate with project leadership to ensure on-time delivery.

Candidates should bring at least five years of foreman experience, strong leadership, and knowledge of paving grade control and traffic control. The role requires day and night shifts and pre-employment drug screening.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of proven foreman experience managing a crew.
• Strong supervisory and communication skills (verbal and written) and basic computer skills.
• Valid driver's license.
• Must understand Paving Grade control.
• Must understand pans and specs involved in paving and traffic control.
• Must be able to work both day and night shifts if necessary. Shifts may vary according to project demands
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate activities of workers.
• Oversee progress and efficient utilization of chipseal crew and equipment.
• Establish and maintain a working relationship with fellow Foreman and Superintendents.
• Oversee proper equipment maintenance and report equipment repairs to general superintendent and mechanic shop.
• Monitor the layout, placement, and compaction of materials.
• Monitor quality control.
• Verify measurements, slope and thickness for compliance.
• Communicate with persons outside of the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public and other external sources in an appropriate and professional manner.
• Read and relay job related information from work orders, plans, or contracts to asphalt crew.
• Operate the chipseal equipment, facilitate alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials.
• Correctly calculate and order job materials as necessary.
• Timely and regular attendance is essential.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
