Job summary

Enviva is seeking an experienced operator for its chipping process, responsible for safely handling heavy equipment and monitoring systems to ensure continuous, efficient wood processing. The role requires daily preventive maintenance, accurate paperwork, and strict adherence to safety and operational standards.

Ideal candidates bring strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to read instructions, and prior heavy equipment experience in a wood/biomass setting.

Qualifications

• Internal company certification is required.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal job instructions.
• Experience with heavy equipment in a similar industry.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate all assigned equipment in the chipping process, including knuckle boom, front end loaders, grapple loaders, and bull dozers.
• Troubleshoot and operate woodyard equipment such as debarker, chipper, bark hog, and conveyance systems.
• Operate computers and HMI screens to monitor and adjust operational values for smooth, consistent chip mill operation.
• Perform daily checks and preventive maintenance on woodyard equipment.
• Conduct daily inspections and perform basic maintenance to keep equipment in good working order.
• Maintain, replace, and repair chipper parts (clamps, holders, wear segments, knives).
• Maintain required paperwork.
• Operate computers, monitor and adjust operational values.
• Coordinate housekeeping to meet company standards and escalate issues promptly for resolution.
