Job summary

Star Service Houston is seeking an experienced Chiller Technician to join our HVAC team. You will perform maintenance, inspections and repairs on air-cooled and water-cooled chiller systems in commercial and industrial facilities.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of field experience, EPA 608 certification, and the ability to read schematics, troubleshoot refrigerant circuits, and work on rooftops or mechanical rooms.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience servicing and troubleshooting commercial chillers.
• Proficient in reading electrical schematics and control sequences.
• Ability to troubleshoot refrigeration circuits, TXVs/EXVs, sensors and VFDs.

We are looking for an all-star Chiller Technicianto join ourStar Service of Houston team.

Responsibilities:

• Perform maintenance, inspections, and repairs on air-cooled and water-cooled chiller systems
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant system issues
• Conduct start-ups, shutdowns, and performance testing
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
• Maintain accurate service records and documentation
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and company procedures
• Communicate clearly with customers regarding system status and repair recommendations
• Participate in on-call rotation as required

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience servicing and troubleshooting commercial chillers
• Strong knowledge of air-cooled and water-cooled chillers
• Experience with Carrier, Trane, York, Daikin, and similar equipment
• Ability to troubleshoot refrigeration circuits, compressors, TXVs/EXVs, controls, sensors, VFDs, and electrical systems
• Ability to perform refrigerant recovery, evacuation, charging, leak detection, and system startup
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control sequences
• Experience diagnosing high/low-pressure, flow, temperature, and control-related problems
• Knowledge of BAS/controls is a plus
• EPA 608 certification required
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Ability to work independently and communicate professionally with customers
• Ability to work outdoors, on rooftops, and in mechanical rooms
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or emergency service when needed
• Must have a strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship
