Job summary

Trane Technologies is seeking a Chiller Technician to repair and service chillers on-site at customer locations. You will handle troubleshooting, testing, commissioning, and continuous maintenance across commercial facilities, hospitals, and arenas.

Expect collaboration with team leaders and customers to deliver reliable climate solutions. A minimum of 10+ years in HVAC with EPA Universal Certification is required; High School Diploma or equivalent and strong MS Office skills are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary on-site technician and direct customer contact.
  • Coordinate with team lead and customer to plan and execute on-site installs/repairs.
  • Test and commission chillers, and ensure safety standards.
  • Mentor junior staff and participate in overtime as required.

What’s in it for you:

The Chiller Technician role is the primary service and maintenance contact for Trane Technologies customers in a defined market with a diverse commercial base including Healthcare, Process Manufacturing Facilities, Education Institutions, and Office Complexes. As a Chiller Technician, you will be primarily responsible for repairing Chillers ranging from 50 Tons and up. Additionally, you will be responsible for scheduled and unscheduled Chiller preventative maintenance, inspections, and service requests including replacement, and modifications of Chiller equipment or systems as needed or requested by customers. You will be responsible for testing Chillers on our onsite test stand, point to point testing, starting up, commissioning, and servicing on assigned Chillers or HVAC equipment. This position affords you the opportunity to work with internal and external partners ranging from new facility set ups to existing facility retro fits. What you will do:

Chiller repair and troubleshooting experience are essential for this role. Responsible for servicing and assembling Chiller equipment, ranging from 50 Tons and up. Work is mostly performed onsite at hospitals, arenas, casinos, shopping malls as well as occasional assigned projects, and jobsites.

Represents the company by serving as the direct customer contact and is responsible for servicing chiller products and chiller equipment on assigned projects, ensuring customer satisfaction by identifying, examining, diagnosing and repairing chiller equipment and systems at customer’s location.

Coordinates with team leader/project manager and customer to precisely understand requirements for all on-site installation and repairs by forecasting issues, gathering materials and synchronizing on-site work.

Uses cutting edge software and technology, along with a variety of hand-tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications, to diagnose and repair units.

Continually enforces safety to the highest standards and maintains security and accountability of company issued and procured assets by recording use, wear and conditions.

Mentor team members. Display team effort and dedication to customer by maintaining flexibility to work overtime and weeks as the business requires, including occasional overnight stays.

What you will bring:

A High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Typically requires at least 10 plus years of experience in HVAC. Technical School or formal training is preferred. Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software and working proficiency with handheld computer (i.e. Smartphone, iPad). Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to: DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless / Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years. EPA Universal Certification Required

Annual Base Salary Range or Hourly Base Pay Range:

$34.37 - $65.12
