Job summary

Johnson Controls Navy Systems in Norfolk, VA seeks a Chiller Mechanic Apprentice to support shipboard HVAC/R systems for the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard.

Duties include preventive maintenance, inspection, and repair of large cooling plants and related equipment, with emphasis on reliability in harsh maritime conditions. The role requires ability to obtain government clearances, a valid driver’s license, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license.

• Ability to obtain and maintain required government clearances and badges.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and service Chilled Water Air Conditioning Plants, refrigeration systems, and related equipment for U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard vessels.
• Inspect, diagnose, service, repair and perform preventive maintenance of HVAC equipment.
• Troubleshoot HVAC mechanical, electrical and controls problems.
• Inspect and repair mechanical systems with various tools and instruments.
• Perform belt adjustments, lubrication, cleaning, and sampling for analysis.
