Job summary

OUC - The Reliable One in Orlando seeks a Chilled Water Operator II to run and maintain large chillers, monitor the control system, and support maintenance staff. The role focuses on safe, efficient operation of the chilled water plant and energy delivery, including water treatment, metering, and instrumentation.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years in large chiller operation, HVAC apprenticeship or equivalent training, EPA 608 certification or eligibility, and a valid Florida driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Completion of an approved apprenticeship or vocational/technical training in HVAC (may substitute for 2 years).
• Must possess EPA Section 608 Universal Refrigerant Handling Certification (or obtain within 6 months).
• Continuing ed in HVAC/controls (preferred).
• Valid Florida Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Participate in operation of chilled water districts and learn sequence of operation.
• Monitor primary/secondary loop and energy delivery stations; manage valves and heat exchangers.
• Ensure reliable chilled water supply; generate daily efficiency/reliability reports.
• Assist lead mechanics and maintenance staff in repairs and preventive maintenance.
• Make emergency decisions affecting plant operation or shut downs.
• Start/stop equipment to meet demand and respond to emergencies.
• Follow lock-out/tag-out procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
