Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Keep displays, coolers, and shelves stocked and provide prompt, friendly service.

• Receive deliveries, check counts and quality, and log discrepancies.
• Maintain clean, orderly shelves and work areas; participate in inventory.
• Attend department or store meetings and perform assigned tasks.

Chill Department Associate

Description

Keep displays, coolers, and shelves fully stocked and to provide prompt, friendly, courteous customer service and to help meet department sales objectives.

Status: Full Time or Part Time

Hourly, $17.00/hour, Evenings & Weekends

Stocking

• Stock displays fully without overcrowding; face items on shelves
• Rotate older stock to front, making space for new stock
• Pull short-date or low quality items and follow established departmental procedures for recording and disposing of them
• Label items accurately with price tags or signs as needed. Report price discrepancies to buyers

Customer Service

• Assist customers with product questions in a prompt, friendly, courteous manner, referring them to other staff when necessary
• Offer suggestions for purchases and ways to prepare products
• Help customers place Special Orders

Receiving

• In absence of Receiver, check deliveries to verify piece count and notify purchaser of discrepancies
• Check for damage and unacceptable quality, notify purchaser of discrepancies
• Help with unloading deliveries as needed
• Sign for deliveries with appropriate adjustments noted on invoice and route invoice to buyer
• Rotate overstock into storage

Department Maintenance

• Keep shelves, coolers, and bins in clean, orderly condition
• Remove cardboard and trash promptly
• Sweep and mop floor
• Monitor cooler and freezer temperatures when working in those areas
• Report equipment malfunctions/problems to appropriate parties as per departmental procedures
• Use equipment following all appropriate safely procedures
• Participate in inventory as assigned

Additional

• Attend Department and store meetings
• Perform other tasks assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

• Ability to work shifts with constant standing throughout work day and frequent kneeling, squatting, bending, reaching
• Ability to work in cold areas (coolers, freezers) for extended periods
• Ability to handle multiple demands
• Experience serving the public
• Familiarity with natural foods
• Basic arithmetic skills
• Familiarity with basic office computer functions including spreadsheets, email, internet
• Experience with computer Point-of-Sale systems a plus
