Job summary

The YMCA in Vineland, NJ, is seeking a Part-time Child Watch Assistant to support youth programs. You will supervise children, implement the program curriculum, and ensure a safe, welcoming environment during AM and PM shifts.

Requirements include a High School diploma, minimum age 18, CPR/First Aid/AED and training within 30 days of hire. The role offers flexible hours (12–20 per week) with pay ranges of $15.92 to $17.31 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Meets educational requirement of a minimum of a High School diploma.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED and oxygen certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
  • Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
  • Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Implements the scheduled activities and interacts with children within the established guidelines.
  • Nurtures children through purposeful programming dedicated to building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families.
  • Supervises the children, designated rooms, and all activities including ADA accommodations where appropriate. Follows all procedures and standards.
  • Knowledge of and ability to quickly implement emergency procedures to ensure safety of the children.
  • Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents, staff, and Administration.
  • Assists in maintaining the program site and equipment ensuring a clean, orderly, compliant, safe and positive environment for the students and parents.
  • Enforce the Association’s Policies and Procedures regarding arrivals, departures, incident/accident reports, program calendar, and daily schedule.
  • Attends and actively participates in events, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training. A minimum of 20 hours is required annually.
  • Assist the Coordinator in lesson plan activities and the monthly newsletter.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Summary

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. This position is available for AM and PM Shifts. The position is part time and approximately 12-20 hours per week. The Child watch Assistant provides direction for the children in the Child Watch program and implements program curriculum. Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families.
