The Afterschool Collective in Long Island City invites energetic individuals to join as LEGO Birthday Party Hosts. You will lead a 90-minute LEGO activity within a roughly 2-hour party, welcoming families and guiding kids through builds with clear, engaging instruction.

This is an extremely part-time, as-needed role with weekend events and occasional bookings. Training and materials are provided; experience with children is highly valued, and you’ll help create memorable, joyful celebrations.

Join Our Team as a LEGO Birthday Party Host!

The Afterschool Collective is looking for highly energetic, warm, and dependable Birthday Party Hosts to lead fun, hands-on LEGO-based celebrations at our Long Island City studio.

If you’re passionate about working with children, love bringing positive energy to a room, and enjoy fostering creativity through play, this could be the perfect role for you!

Please note: This is an extremely part-time, as-needed position. Party frequency varies based on bookings and availability and may be as little as one party per month. This role is ideal for someone looking to supplement another job, teaching schedule, or other commitments with occasional weekend event work.

About the Role

Our parties are designed to feel organized, engaging, and special from the moment families arrive. Party Hosts create a welcoming atmosphere, lead the LEGO activity with enthusiasm, keep children engaged, and help the celebration run smoothly from beginning to end.

Most parties are approximately 2 hours and include a 90-minute facilitated LEGO activity.

What You’ll Do

• Warmly welcome the birthday child, guests, and families.
• Lead a structured, high-energy 90-minute LEGO-based activity.
• Explain builds and challenges in a clear, age-appropriate, and engaging way.
• Encourage creativity, teamwork, and participation.
• Keep children engaged and the party moving on schedule.
• Help make the birthday child feel celebrated and special.
• Support transitions between LEGO activities, challenges, races, games, cake, and other party elements.
• Prepare and organize LEGO materials before the activity.
• Assist with cleanup and resetting materials following the party.
• Communicate warmly and professionally with parents and caregivers.
• Follow The Afterschool Collective’s party procedures and safety expectations.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal Party Host:

• Is highly energetic, outgoing, and genuinely enjoys working with children.
• Is confident leading groups and comfortable being the center of attention.
• Has experience working with children in educational, camp, afterschool, birthday party, entertainment, or enrichment settings.
• Is dependable, punctual, organized, and professional.
• Can give clear instructions while keeping activities playful and exciting.
• Handles busy, high-energy environments calmly and confidently.
• Understands that exceptional customer service is just as important as delivering a great activity.
• Has LEGO, STEM, robotics, teaching, performing, or event-hosting experience as a plus, but not a requirement.

No prior LEGO or robotics experience is necessary. Training, activity instructions, curriculum, and materials are provided.

Position Highlights

• Compensation: $125 per studio party
• Typical Event Length: Approximately 2 hours, including a 90-minute facilitated activity
• Schedule: Occasional, primarily weekend events based on party bookings and your availability
• Extremely Part-Time: This may be as little as one party per month, with additional opportunities depending on our event calendar
