Job summary

First Baptist Church Somerville is seeking a Children’s Ministry Director who will lead, grow, and care for children birth through sixth grade and their families. The role focuses on creating a safe, welcoming, Christ-centered environment where children learn about God and grow in faith.

The director will plan programs, recruit volunteers, develop curriculum with nursery and children’s committees, and collaborate with church leadership. A heart for families and strong leadership are essential.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and oversee children’s ministry programs, including Sunday mornings, Wednesday evenings, mission opportunities and special events.
• Recruit, train, schedule, and encourage volunteers who serve with children.
• Select or develop age-appropriate curriculum and activities with Nursery and Children’s ministry committees.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized ministry environment for all children.
• Communicate regularly with parents, volunteers, church staff, and leadership.
• Support outreach opportunities that help families feel connected to the church.
• Support FBC children in their activities beyond the church by attending school and extracurricular events.
• Assist in development and oversight of Nursery and Children’s Ministry budgets.
• Seek to integrate Children’s ministry into all phases of church life.
• Attend worship services, Sunday School and discipleship events, Wednesday evening Children’s Ministry activities and weekly staff meetings.

Our church, First Baptist Church Somerville, TN is prayerfully seeking a caring, dependable, and spiritually mature Children’s Ministry Director to lead and to continue to grow our ministry to children and their families. This person will help maintain and continue development of a safe, welcoming, and Christ-centered environment where children ages birth through sixth grade can learn about God and His Word, become devoted followers of Jesus Christ, and build friendships.
