Job summary

Columbia County Libraries in Georgia seeks a manager to lead the Children's Department, planning, organizing and directing library services and outreach for children. The role includes training and supervising staff, coordinating summer reading, and creating promotional materials.

You will select materials, oversee maintenance, and ensure smooth operations across branches while engaging with the community and collaborating with other departments.

Qualifications

• Master’s in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program.
• Experience equivalent to one to two years in a similar role.
• Valid driver’s license required or ability to obtain.
• Education and work experience may substitute for minimum requirements.

Responsibilities

• Trains, schedules work, supervises and evaluates staff of the Children’s Department.
• Participates in employment interviews for Children’s Specialist and Library Assistants.
• Designs and prepares children’s programs, including story times and outreach.
• Selects materials for acquisition and withdrawal; oversees maintenance.
• Creates bibliographies, readers’ advisory and promotional materials.
• Maintains the Children’s Department appearance and equipment.
• Coordinates Summer Reading Program with other librarians and branch managers.
• Staffs the children’s desk and assists patrons with information needs.
• Ensures coordination with other departments to deliver services.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
