Job summary

North Lakes Children’s Services is launching a new four-bed children’s residential home in Carlisle and seeks an experienced Children’s Home Registered Manager to lead from the start.

You will provide overall leadership, ensure regulatory compliance and deliver high-quality care while developing a dedicated team. This role demands strong safeguarding practice, budgets oversight and a commitment to positive outcomes for young people.

Qualifications

• Relevant Level 3 residential childcare qualification or equivalent.
• Level 5 leadership/management qualification for residential childcare or equivalent.
• Previous management experience in children’s residential services.

Responsibilities

• Provide strong leadership and management of the home and staff team.
• Ensure the home’s Statement of Purpose reflects service delivery.
• Maintain compliance with regulations, safeguarding and policies.
• Monitor and improve service quality and standards.
• Lead staff supervision, performance management and development.
• Oversee training needs and ensure delivery of training where required.
• Ensure effective communication across the team.
• Manage budgets and resources efficiently.
• Maintain records and administrative systems.
• Uphold safeguarding, equality and confidentiality requirements.
• Oversee health and safety and ensure a safe, well-maintained home.
• Support induction and development of new team members.

Salary: Up to £44,020 per annum, including available bonuses

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday

North Lakes Children’s Services is a well-established provider of therapeutic residential care and education for boys aged 6–18. Our mission is to improve the resilience, self-esteem and life outcomes of the young people we support.

We are excited to launch a brand-new four-bed children’s residential home in Carlisle and are seeking an experienced, passionate and child-focused Children’s Home Registered Manager to lead the service from the very beginning.

About the Role

As the Children’s Home Registered Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the effective leadership, management and development of the home.

You will ensure the service operates in line with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, safeguarding requirements and North Lakes Children’s Services’ policies, values and standards.

You will lead, inspire and develop a high-performing team, ensuring young people receive high-quality care and support that promotes positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strong leadership and management of the home and staff team.
• Ensure the home’s Statement of Purpose remains accurate and reflective of service delivery.
• Maintain compliance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, North Lakes Children’s Services’ policies and safeguarding requirements.
• Monitor and continuously improve service quality and standards.
• Lead staff supervision, performance management, appraisals and professional development.
• Identify staff development and training needs and support the delivery of training where required.
• Ensure effective communication systems are in place across the team.
• Manage budgets and resources efficiently.
• Maintain accurate records and administrative systems.
• Promote and uphold safeguarding, equality, diversity and confidentiality requirements.
• Oversee health and safety compliance and ensure the home remains safe and well maintained.
• Support the induction and development of new team members.
• Create a positive and supportive culture focused on achieving the very best outcomes for young people.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A strong understanding of the challenges faced by children and young people in care
• A relevant Level 3 qualification in residential childcare, Children and Young People’s Workforce, health and social care, or an equivalent qualification
• A relevant Level 5 leadership and management qualification for residential childcare, or equivalent
• Previous management experience within children’s residential services
• Excellent communication, leadership and people-management skills
• The ability to motivate, lead and develop a staff team
• A full UK driving licence
• Flexibility to work across other homes if required
• Experience working with young people with emotional and behavioural needs
• Experience across residential childcare, social care or youth work settings
