Children's Behavioral Health Technician - Evenings

Join us as a Children's Behavioral Health Technician - Evenings at Community Counseling Center, Cape Girardeau, MO.

Location: Cape Girardeau, MO

Shift: Evening (2:15 PM - 10:45 PM)

Pay Rate: $17.38/hour, with a +$0.50 shift differential for evening shifts.

Program Overview

Cottonwood is a 16-bed Residential Treatment Facility for children and adolescents aged 7-18, providing intensive residential treatment as an alternative to hospitalization.

Role Summary

As a Behavioral Health Technician, you will ensure client safety and well-being, assist with skill development, participate in group activities, and respond to crises. You will also facilitate social and recreational activities like bowling, swimming, and sports.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment.
  • Educate clients on daily living and self-care skills.
  • Teach functional living skills per treatment plans.
  • Coordinate care with the treatment team.
  • Document observations and client progress.
  • Conduct checks on belongings, rooms, and grounds.
  • Monitor clients' conditions and ensure their safety.
  • Transport clients to appointments as needed.
  • Respond to behavioral crises, including seclusion and restraint when necessary.
  • Follow clinical documentation policies.
  • Maintain CPR/First Aid and Pro-ACT certifications.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, or HSE required.
  • Experience in mental health, healthcare, or youth work preferred.
  • Must hold or obtain a valid MO Class E Driver's License (Class D for IL residents) and proof of auto insurance.
Additional Requirements
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to obtain a Class E license.
  • Ability to pass CPR/First Aid and ProACT training.
