Job summary

Parrish Medical Center's Children's Center is seeking a dedicated Childcare Assistant to support children from six weeks to five years old under supervision of the Childcare Teacher. You will participate in hands-on activities, help with daily schedules, and ensure a safe, clean learning environment.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and at least one year in an early childhood program. You must have AHCA fingerprint clearance and complete the DCF 45-hour training within 12 months

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one year experience in an early childhood program preferred.
• AHCA fingerprint clearance required.
• DCF 45 hour Introductory Training within 12 months of hire.
• Familiarity with fire, disaster and safety procedures relevant to the work area.

Responsibilities

• Participates with children in classroom activities to promote development in cognitive, social, emotional, physical, language and daily living skills.
• Assists in planning, preparation, setup and cleanup of daily activities.
• Maintains a clean and orderly environment with sanitation and safety procedures.
• Assists children with self-care activities.
• Assists with writing and posting daily schedules and lesson plans.
• Maintains positive relationships with children, staff and parents.
• Works under the guidance of the classroom teacher and adheres to policies.
• Meets yearly continuing education requirements.
• Performs similar or related duties as assigned.

General Description:

The Childcare Assistant reports to The Children's Center Manager. Under the direct supervision of the Childcare Teacher, the duties of the Childcare Teacher Assistant include, but are not limited to, hands-on instruction and high-quality care of children between six (6) weeks and five (5) years of age within the childcare program.

The position shall exemplify the desired Culture of Choice and philosophies of Parrish Healthcare.

Key Responsibilities:

• Participates with children in classroom activities to promote child development in all areas: cognitive, social, emotional, physical, language and daily living skills.
• Assists in planning, preparation, set up and cleanup of daily activities.
• Maintains a clean and orderly environment for the children to include following procedures for sanitation and safety guidelines.
• Assists children with self-care activities.
• Assisting with writing and posting the daily schedules and lesson plans.
• Maintains positive relationships with children, staff and parents.
• Works under the guidance of the classroom teacher; adheres to policies.
• Meets or exceeds yearly requirements for continuing education.
• Performs similar or related duties as assigned.
• Knows fire, disaster, and safety procedure and regulations as it pertains to work area.

Requirements:

Formal Education:

• High School diploma or GED required.

Work Experience:

• Minimum of one (1) year experience in an early childhood program preferred.

Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:

• AHCA fingerprint clearance required.
