Job summary

YMCA of the Northern Sky is seeking an Early Learning Center Teacher to work in one of our Fargo or West Fargo branches. You will promote holistic development for infants to preschoolers and implement a curriculum that includes math, science, arts, and sensory activities.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, CDA, and CPR/First Aid/AED within 90 days. Shift is 6:30am–6pm; benefits include PTO and YMCA membership.

Qualifications

• Childcare experience or certification is beneficial.
• CPR/First Aid/AED within 90 days of hire is required.
• 15 hours of basic childcare training within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe supervision of a group of children while planning a creative curriculum environment.
• Plan daily lessons and activities to promote motor, social, emotional and cognitive development.
• Oversee Assistant Teacher, Classroom Assistant, and Learning Center Leaders in the classroom.
• Engage in positive staff-child and parent-teacher interactions and maintain communication with the team.

Description

Our Early Learning Center Teachers work in one of our 5 YMCA Early Learning Centers. We have Early Learning Centers located in our Fercho YMCA and Schlossman YMCA branches, as well as three Early Learning Centers located in Fargo and West Fargo.

Our Early Learning Centers are so much more than just your typical daycare! We provide quality, licensed care for infants - preschool children (children ages 6 weeks to 5 years). Our curriculum incorporates math, science, dramatic play, music, and art to provide opportunities for group and independent learning experiences.

• Promote a healthy, emotional, social, intellectual, and physical environment for each child. Your compassion will show through as you interact with children and guide their learning.
• Be responsible for the safe supervision of the assigned group of children while planning a creative curriculum environment.
• Plan daily lessons, child assessments, and curriculum with a variety of activities to enhance gross and fine motor skills, social/emotional development, and provide children with sensory and cognitive experiences.
• Oversee the Assistant Teacher, Classroom Assistant, and Learning Center Leaders while in the classroom.
• Engage in positive staff-child interactions along with positive parent-teacher interactions, as well as maintaining good communication with the Classroom Assistants and Early Learning Center Director.
• Be a role model for the children by presenting yourself in a confident, dignified manner.

Requirements

• At least 18 years old AND
• High School Diploma or GED AND
• CDA

And must also complete:

• Within 90 days of hire: CPR/First Aid/AED Certification for Adult, Child and Pediatrics
• Within 90 days of hire: 15 hours of basic childcare training through Child Care Aware

Preferred

• A Bachelor's Degree in a teaching field
