Job summary

Hemlock Public School District is seeking a childcare lead teacher for the Walker Room in the Walker area. The role focuses on daily teaching, supervising staff, and delivering developmentally appropriate activities for toddlers under supervision of the childcare director.

The candidate will align with Michigan licensing, complete required trainings, and work closely with families to support each child’s growth and development in a caring environment.

Qualifications

• Must meet Michigan child care licensing requirements to serve as Lead Teacher.
• Must obtain Basic First Aid and CPR Certification.
• Meet licensing/program requirements for background check and clearances.

Responsibilities

• Lead classroom staff in daily teaching and supervision of children.
• Develop and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans.
• Collaborate with parents to support child growth and learning.

Required Qualifications:

• Meet licensing/program requirements for a background check, fingerprinting, and other program clearances
• Must meet all Michigan child care licensing requirements to serve as a Lead Teacher
• Must obtain Basic First Aid and CPR Certification
• Experience working with Toddler children
• 1-2 years working with early childhood aged children

Job Requirements, Knowledge, and Skills:

• Experience working with Toddlers.
• Primary responsibilities under daily supervision of the childcare director include daily teaching and supervision of children, daily supervision of childcare staff
• Michigan's Infant and Toddler Development And Care Practices Course Completion
• Familiar with early childhood standards and benchmarks, preferred
• Knowledge of High Scope Curriculum, preferred
• Strong computer skills
• Willingness to accept and perform additional duties/responsibilities as assigned
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and parents to ensure student success and a positive caring environment

A successful candidate will be able to:

• Assist in assessing Children's growth and development
• Develop and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans and daily routines
• Lead classroom staff in a positive manner
• Have a positive and caring attitude
• Possess strong organizational and communication skills
