LSUA Children’s Center in Alexandria, LA, invites applications for an Assistant Teacher position. You will supervise and support the children, assist the lead teacher, and help run daily activities.

Requirements include being 18+, passing a background check, Pediatric First Aid/CPR licensure, and willingness to participate in ongoing training; the role emphasizes safety, classroom care, and communication with parents.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older
• Must be able to pass a Child Care Background Check
• Must be able to obtain Pediatric First Aid/CPR licensure
• Previous experience in childcare preferred

Responsibilities

• Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of the children at all times, being alert for needs and/or problems of the children as individuals and as a group
• Assist assigned Teacher in planning curriculum and implementing the daily program
• Prepare bulletin boards and visuals with children’s art or lesson materials
• Change diapers, assist with potty, and help with meals
• Keep the classroom clean, neat, and orderly; communicate with parents daily
• Attend workshops to complete at least 12 hours of continuing education annually
• Attend staff meetings, conferences, and events as required
• Assist with other duties as assigned by the teacher and/or director
