Job summary

The Growing Years is seeking an Assistant Teacher to join our Apex, NC childcare team. This role supports the lead teacher and engages infants and preschoolers in developmentally appropriate activities.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or GED, and may hold EDU 119 or college-level early childhood coursework. Salary ranges from $15 to $18 per hour, with opportunities for growth and paid trainings. Open to candidates who value a family-oriented workplace and quality child care.

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher with all aspects of the classroom in a manner consistent with the center's philosophy and goals.
• Implement activities that promote growth in emotional, social, cognitive, creative, and physical development.
• Take direction, accept constructive criticism and feedback, and make improvements for the program quality.
• Create and maintain a clean and safe environment for all children.
• Establish professional rapport with families to provide quality care for the children.
• Physically able to work around small children including sitting, standing, walking, running, and climbing stairs; lift up to 40 lbs.

Job description

The Growing Years of Apex is a licensed childcare center seeking Assistant Teachers to work with the following age groups:

• Infants
• Preschool

To be QUALIFIED for this position, we require a high school diploma OR GED and the ability to pass all background checks We require completion of EDU 119 or college level early childhood education coursework. A plus if you have previous childcare experience working directly with infants, toddlers, or preschoolers!

Required Shift: Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 6:00pm

Compensation: $15-$18/hr based on education and experience

• Physical ability to work around small children including sitting, standing, walking, running, and climbing stairs.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. and fulfill all physical requirements of the role.
