Job summary

Winfield-Park-District is seeking a Part-time Childcare Aide to assist with activities and homework, providing leadership to program participants. Hours are 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Thursday, with variation for school schedules.

The role requires a positive and responsible presence for children aged 3–13 and includes safety and record-keeping duties. Qualifications include being at least 16 years old, one year of experience with children preferred, and CPR/AED/First Aid certification

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct leadership of all daily activities, events and participants.
  • Attend staff meetings and complete in-service training.
  • Maintain current and accurate records.
  • Cooperate with co-workers, WDSRA Inclusion staff and Winfield School staff.
  • Provide a warm and caring atmosphere for participants.
  • Address participant behavior issues and report problems to the Recreation Coordinator.
  • Prepare activities and keep rooms neat and orderly.
  • Follow and enforce safety policies.

SummaryUnder the direction of the Childcare Supervisor, the Childcare Aide is responsible for assisting with activities, helping with homework, and providing leadership to program participants.The Childcare Aide is responsible for performing the essential functions as outlined in this analysis. The Childcare Aide is a part-time, non-exempt employee. This is an at-will position.Immediate SupervisorRecreation CoordinatorEssential FunctionsPerform all job tasks within policies and procedures of the Park District’s Personnel and Safety manuals.Attend staff meetings and complete in-service training sessions.Responsible for the direct leadership of all daily activities, events, and participants.Maintain current and accurate recordsCooperate with co-workers, WDSRA Inclusion staff and Winfield School staff.Provide a warm and caring atmosphere for participants.Address participant behavior issues and report any problems which arise with participants or the school to the Recreation Coordinator.Responsible for all activity and room preparations and keeping the room neat and orderly.Follow and enforce all safety policies.Schedule12 hours per week. Monday – Thursday 3:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. Scheduled hours will vary based on the school district’s schedule (ex: holidays, half days, breaks, etc.)Pay Rate$16.00 – $18.00 per hourQualificationsAt least 16 years of age.One year of experience working with children, preferred.Ability to effectively work with children ages 3 – 13 years old.CPR, AED and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain this certification within one month of employment, is required.Psychological ConsiderationsMust have the ability to deal with other people, sometimes under stressful situations. Resolve differences and problems that arise with participants and work together with employees. Must be mature and able to use good judgement.Physiological ConsiderationsMust be able to lift materials up to 30 pounds. Must be able to actively participate in activities and be in good physical condition with abundant energy.Environmental ConsiderationsMost activities are performed indoors; these conditions include lighting, temperature, and noise. Some activities are performed outdoors; these conditions include all weather conditions such as hot temperatures and sun exposure, cold temperatures, and precipitation.Cognitive ConsiderationsMust have the ability to read, write, and speak English. Must be able to understand and follow instructions. Must possess good safety awareness and judgement. Must exhibit problem-solving ability and good judgement in keeping with the mission of the Park District.
