Job summary

China Lake Golf Course is seeking a CY Program Assistant to support curriculum development, create and supervise activities, and ensure the safety and well‑being of children and youth in a DoD program at Monterey.

The role emphasizes collaboration with parents and staff, documentation of progress, and adherence to DoD guidelines and accreditation standards. The position involves both indoor and outdoor activities and routine reporting.

Responsibilities

• Develops schedules and activity plans and ensures they reflect the needs of individual children and youth.
• Implements activities and events meeting physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs; accommodates dietary or other special instructions.
• Prepares and implements program options for children with special requirements; cares for those with special needs as directed.
• Demonstrates, instructs, leads, and facilitates planned and spontaneous program activities.
• Role models developmentally appropriate practice and area management techniques.
• Promotes safety, fitness, health, and nutrition practices; serves snacks or meals where applicable.
• Helps prepare, arrange and maintain indoor/outdoor activity areas and materials to fit daily schedules.
• Sets up displays and bulletin boards.
• Inventories equipment and recommends replenishment of damaged/missing supplies.
• Secures supplies, equipment, and facilities.
• Establishes an engaging program environment and promotes positive interactions among participants.
• Interacts with children and youth using approved guidance and development techniques.
• Provides care and supervision in compliance with DoD and local policies; maintains safety and accountability.
• Maintains control of whereabouts and safety of children and youth; supervises during daily activities and field trips.
• Ensures departures with authorized persons as per parental instructions.
• Observes participants for illness, abuse, or neglect and reports per local policy as required.
