Job Summary:

As a Child Welfare Therapist, you will provide vital therapeutic support to children and families referred by the Department of Child Services (DCS). This role is centered on helping individuals heal from trauma, strengthen family dynamics, and develop skills to navigate challenges. By offering counseling, behavioral support, and trauma-informed interventions, you will empower clients to work toward stability, permanency, and emotional well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Therapeutic Services :
  • Provide individual and family therapy using trauma-informed and evidence-based practices.
  • Assessment & Treatment Planning :
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify client needs and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Crisis Intervention :
  • Offer immediate support during crises to stabilize families and ensure client safety.
  • Behavioral Interventions :
  • Help clients develop coping strategies, emotional regulation skills, and problem-solving techniques.
  • Case Collaboration :
  • Work closely with DCS, foster families, and community partners to ensure comprehensive care and alignment with treatment goals.
  • Support for Permanency :
  • Assist families in achieving permanency through reunification, adoption, or alternative plans.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Qualifications :
    • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field.
    • Must be licensed or working toward licensure in Indiana able to accept associates licensure as well (LCSW, LMHC, LMFT preferred).
    • Experience working with trauma, child welfare, or at-risk populations is highly desirable.
  • Skills & Attributes :

    • Ability to build trust and foster therapeutic relationships with diverse clients.

Employment Requirements:

  • Successful completion of background check including criminal record, driving record, abuse/ neglect and fingerprint check.
  • Completion of New Hire Orientation at the beginning of employment.
  • All training requirements including Relias at the beginning of employment and annually thereafter.
  • Current driver’s license, acceptable driving record and current auto insurance.

Physical Requirements:

ADA Consideration - Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (exists up the 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (exists 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body . Repetitive movements of hands, fingers, and arms for typing and/or writing during work shift.

Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time . Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
