Job summary

Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI) is hiring a full-time Child Welfare Specialist. The role provides comprehensive casework to ensure child safety and wellbeing, working with families to meet parenting standards.

Responsibilities include reporting, case planning, and collaboration with schools and healthcare providers. Qualified candidates have a bachelor’s degree in social work or related field, at least 1 year of experience, and state licensing as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or related human services field is required.
• Minimum of 1 year related experience required.
• State licensing/certification as required by Illinois DCFS.
• CWEL or ability to obtain required.
• Training in KEEP and/or GenerationsPMTO or availability to participate in training.
• CCS Bootcamp and Client-Centered Service Planning training completed.
• Ability to motivate families, youth and foster parents to participate in interventions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related software.
• Background check clearance (criminal and CANTS) required.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit reports, documentation, and billing timely and accurately.
• Present cases for staffing and participate in family-child team meetings.
• Coordinate with schools, healthcare and other providers to promote child wellbeing.
• Assess family service needs and link to community resources.
• Ensure child safety during service delivery.
• Provide strength-based case management to address risks to children.
• Advocate with medical or governmental institutions as needed.
