WV Department of Human Services seeks a Child Welfare Placement Worker to perform Home Finding services in the area of child welfare. The role recruits, locates, and evaluates prospective kinship and resource care homes; trains new and active home providers; conducts periodic reviews and initiates corrective action plans when needed.

You will interact with social workers, mental health professionals, the courts, and the legal system, and travel frequently by personal vehicle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Valid WV driver’s license or access to reliable transportation.
• Strong written and oral communication; maintain detailed case records and extensive documentation.

Responsabilités

• Attending ongoing training to develop knowledge of State and Federal social welfare laws, rules, and protocols regarding child welfare.
• Conducting interviews to identify safe placement options for victims of abuse or neglect with prospective providers.
• Assessing placement candidates using established guidelines to determine if needs can be met.
• Completing reviews of care providers to identify dynamics and problems since placement.
• Developing effective communication with new home providers addressing safety, well-being, and permanency of children.
• Attend court hearings, testify, and make appropriate placements of children with relatives, foster homes, or facilities.
• Evaluate progress of families toward meeting safety/service/treatment objectives and modify plans as needed.
