Job summary

Children & Families First is seeking a Counselor I to provide assessment, prevention, and crisis intervention through home-based and family-focused support services in Delaware. The role requires a flexible, organized approach and includes after-hours on-call duties and court testimony as needed.

The position involves caseload management, client engagement, documentation, and collaboration with agencies and stakeholders to ensure high-quality care and safety for children and families served.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field with relevant experience.
• Associate’s degree acceptable with 2–3 years of related experience.
• Strong time management and organization skills.
• Ability to engage effectively with diverse client populations.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to an evidenced-based social work model and practices.
• Carry and manage up to 15 cases.
• Conduct initial intake with client and family/guardian.
• Provide home-based services including assessment, counseling, crisis intervention, advocacy, and referral.
• Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with clients and families.
• Provide after-hours on-call coverage on a rotating basis.
• Testify at court hearings as necessary.
• Participate in supervision and case consultation.
• Maintain professional relationships with agency, community, and stakeholders.
• Document assessments, service plans, safety plans, case notes, and discharge plans timely.
• Plan, design, and present educational programs.
• Supervise students as assigned.
• Maintain confidentiality, quality, and productivity standards.
• Transport clients as needed using agency vehicles.
