Job summary

The Children’s Aid Society of the District of Thunder Bay is seeking a Child Protection Worker for the Marathon Office. The position is full-time and permanent, working 33.75 hours per week with a salary range of $60,824 to $88,142 annually.

The role involves receiving referrals, investigating maltreatment, assessing ongoing needs, and providing short- or long-term therapeutic support to prevent further risk to children.

Qualifications

• BA or equivalent combination of education/experience; B.S.W/H.B.S.W preferred.
• Candidates with other qualifications but relevant child welfare experience are encouraged to apply.

• Knowledge of anti-oppressive, strengths-based approaches.
• Ability to gather and interpret complex information.
• Ability to assess risk and develop service plans with families.

Responsibilities

• Provide protection and safety assessment services to families and children.
• Undertake family and individual assessments.
• Develop partnerships with community social services.
• Prepare reports and documents for internal/external use, including legal matters.
• Participate in case conferences, staff meetings, and professional development.
• Travel within the district to meet families' needs.
