Job summary

The Oklahoma Department of Human Services in Bartlesville is seeking a Child Welfare Assistant to support case management and client services within a busy public agency. You will coordinate appointments, arrange transportation, and assist in preparing reports for court and service plans.

Three levels (I–III) reflect increasing clerical experience within government or non-profit social services. Driving and insurance are required for travel and you should have a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Six months of general office clerical work, providing care for children in a licensed day care facility, sales, or public contact work.
• One year of clerical experience in a governmental or non-profit social services provider environment; substitute 30 college hours for experience.
• One year of clerical experience in a governmental or non-profit social services provider environment plus two additional years in a child welfare environment; substitute 30 college hours for experience.

Responsibilities

• Complete a full range of paraprofessional Child Welfare case management activities; assist CWS, clients and families.
• Schedule doctor visits, family visitations, court appearances, and other appointments; arrange or provide transportation for children and clients.
• Coordinate referrals to other program areas, service providers and courts; assist in problem resolution and home visits to assess foster care placement as required by the court or service plan.
• Interview clients and families and report findings that may affect medical, financial, tribal affiliation, and psychiatric care plans to assigned CWS.
• Provide administrative support: input case documentation, compile social/economical data, schedule meetings with clients and others.
• Advise clients of available child welfare services and resources; refer to community resources for assistance.
• Assist in providing case management in client meetings and coordinating activities with law enforcement, courts, and other entities.
• May assist in advocating for clients to obtain services; maintain communication among client, providers, and families; help clients achieve service plans.
