Job summary

The Oklahoma Department of Human Services is seeking a Child Welfare Assistant to support case management in Duncan, Waurika and Walters, OK. You will assist specialists, help families, schedule appointments, arrange transportation, and coordinate referrals to services and courts as required.

This state civil service position requires the ability to work with diverse clients, maintain confidential records, and navigate administrative tasks.

Qualifications

• Six months of general office clerical work or equivalent experience.
• Experience providing care for children in a licensed day care facility, sales, or public contact work.
• One year of clerical experience in a governmental or non-profit social services environment.
• One year of clerical experience in a government/non-profit social services environment plus two additional years in a child welfare setting.

Responsibilities

• Complete a full range of paraprofessional work supporting Child Welfare case management.
• Schedule doctor visits, family visitations, court appearances, and other appointments; arrange transportation for children and clients.
• Coordinate referrals to other program areas, service providers, and the courts; assist in problem resolution and home visits for foster care placement assessments.
• Interview clients and families and report findings affecting medical, financial, tribal affiliation, and psychiatric care plans.
• Perform administrative duties including inputting case documentation, compiling data, scheduling, and assisting in meetings with clients and families.
• Advise clients of available child welfare services and resources; refer to community resources for assistance.
