Job summary

Oahe Family YMCA in Pierre, SD is seeking a compassionate Child Watch Coordinator to supervise the child watch room and support Early Learning staff during the school year and summer. You will manage children ages 6 weeks to 10 years while parents use the facility.

Responsibilities include supervising during morning and evening hours, assisting with afterschool and summer camp, and ensuring a safe, engaging environment with proper licensing and background checks.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in a structured setting (childcare, education, camp, etc.).
• Ability to manage multiple age groups with patience and enthusiasm.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• CPR/First Aid certification required.
• Must pass background checks and meet state childcare licensing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the child watch room during morning and evening hours.
• Assist Early Learning staff by covering lunch breaks and maintaining supervision in preschool classrooms.
• Supervise school-age children during bus transportation and assist with afterschool transitions.
• Support summer camp program by supervising activities and ensuring a safe, engaging environment.
