Job summary

YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Part-Time Child Watch Lead at Gordon Family YMCA in Sumner, WA. The role supports a safe, caring environment for children 6 weeks to 7 years while parents use YMCA facilities.

You will assist supervision of the Child Watch program and deliver activities aligned with YMCA core values. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, background checks, and willingness to train in child abuse prevention.

  • Must complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day and other required trainings.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe, caring, and fun learning environment for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years.
  • Assist and support supervision of the Child Watch program under the Program Director.
  • Provide a quality experience aligned with YMCA values of Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Caring.
  • Support diversity and inclusive learning environments.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Instruct youth classes in sports, games, and activities as needed.

Job description

Wage:$18.24 to $18.69 per hour (Compensation is determined based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, with most new hires starting between the minimum and midpoint of the posted wage range)

Hours:Part-Time, Up to 25 hours per week

Location:Gordon Family YMCA, Sumner, WA

As a Child Watch Lead, you will be responsible forensuring a safe, caring, and fun learning environment for children ages 6 weeks to 7 years while parents are utilizing the YMCA facilities.

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).
  • Committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a safe, caring, and fun learning environment for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years while parents are utilizing the YMCA facilities.
  • Assist and support the supervision of the Child Watch program under the directions of the Program Director.
  • Provide a quality experience focused on YMCA core values of Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Caring.
  • Committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • High school graduate or equivalent (preferred).
  • One year or more of related experience (preferred).
  • Previous experience working with children of all ages preferably in a program setting and diverse populations.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge and skills in program activities and related office equipment, and the ability to instruct youth classes in sports, games, and activities.
  • Possess the knowledge and skills needed to support youth staff and classes.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, AED certifications (preferred)
