Job summary

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Child Watch Attendant to join our team at the Haselwood Family YMCA in Silverdale, WA. This part-time role supports youth safety and engaging activities for children while parents are using the facility.

Responsibilities include supervising kids aged 6 weeks to 7 years, coordinating drop-off/pick-up, and ensuring a clean, safe environment. Prior experience and CPR/First Aid training are valued.

Qualifications

• Six months or more of related child care experience preferred.
• CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications preferred.
• Ability to communicate with parents about child behavior and safety.

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

As aChild Watch Attendant, you will ensure a safe, caring, and fun learning environment for children ages 6 weeks to 7 years while parents are utilizing the YMCA facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Care for children ages 6 weeks to 7 years of age
• Monitor drop-off and pick-up of children
• Play actively with the children by adapting activities to the needs of each
• Communicate with parents regarding their children's behavior and safety
• Assist with maintaining the cleanliness and order in the child watch area

Are you a good fit?

• You are committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
• You have six months or more of related experience preferred.
• You have a positive attitude and previous experience with youth and diverse populations.
• You have knowledge and skills in program activities and related office equipment, and the ability to instruct participants in techniques.
• You have current CPR, First Aid, AED certifications (preferred).
• Able and willing to complete Child Abuse Prevention training on first day and other online or in-person training as required
• Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).

Wage: $17.13 to $17.89 per hour, (Compensation is determined based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, with most new hires starting between the minimum and midpoint of the posted wage range)

Hours: Part-Time, Up to 25 hours per week

Location: Haselwood Family YMCA, Silverdale, WA
