Job summary

Foothills Area YMCA in Seneca, SC is seeking team members for our Childwatch Center. The role focuses on nurturing children through purposeful play, supervising activities, and building a sense of belonging for youths while parents use other facility areas.

The position requires candidates to be at least 16 years old, obtain CPR/First Aid/AED certifications and child abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire, and possess or show willingness to pursue age-appropriate activity planning and

Qualifications

• At least 16 years of age.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
• Child care experience preferred, but not required.
• Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate activities.
• Experience with diverse populations preferred.
• ADA inclusion awareness.

Responsibilities

• Nurtures children through purposeful play dedicated to making youth feel welcome and cared for.
• Supervises the children and all activities and ensures ADA accommodations where appropriate.
• Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents.
• Maintains program site and equipment.
• Maintains required program records.
• Attends and participates in staff meetings and staff training.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Provides direction for the children in the childwatch area. Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families.

• Nurtures children through purposeful play dedicated to making youth feel welcome and cared for while their parents/guardians are using other areas of the facility.
• Supervises the children and all activities including ADA accommodations where appropriate. Follow all procedures and standards.
• Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents. Engages parents and volunteers and connects them to the YMCA.
• Maintains program site and equipment.
• Maintains required program records.
• Attends and participates in staff meetings and staff training.
• Performed other duties as assigned

Our Childwatch Center is looking for team members for both AM and PM shifts. Whether you're available for both or prefer one over the other.

QualificationsQualifications:

• At least 16 years of age.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
• Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting is preferred, but not required.
• Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate activities.
• Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds, preferred but not required.
