Job summary

The Upper Palmetto YMCA is seeking a part-time Child Watch Associate to provide a safe, fun environment for children. Under supervision, you will assist with events and activities, ensuring age-appropriate interactions and adherence to safety standards. You will foster family relationships and maintain the program area.

Responsibilities include supervising children, diaper changes, and communicating with parents. This role supports the mission of the YMCA through reliable, compassionate care.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Adult and Pediatric First Aid/AED/CPR within 60 days of hire.
• Knowledge and experience with the care and feeding of infants, toddlers and young children.
• Ability and willingness to change diapers while using techniques to avoid the risk of exposure to blood or other bodily fluids that may lead to the spread of infection.
• Demonstrate maturity and strong interpersonal skills with the ability and willingness to approach participants in a non-threatening manner to manage behavior and diffuse potentially volatile situations.
• Have a positive attitude and desire to achieve the mission of the Upper Palmetto YMCA
• Carrying, sitting, seeing, hearing, speaking, running, crouching, lifting (25 Lbs.), and walking.

• Tends to the needs of each child including diaper changes.
• Responsible for the safety of all children in the program
• Supervises the children and all activities including ADA accommodations where appropriate.
• Follows all procedures and standards.
• Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents.
• Maintains program site and equipment.
• Attempts to facilitate a controlled environment with age-appropriate activities.
• Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers.
• Maintain appropriate relationships with consumers.
• Attend required abuse risk management training.
• Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers.
• Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations by employees, volunteers, and consumers.
• Report all suspicions or allegations of abuse immediately to their supervisor.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

The Child Watch Associate is responsible forproviding a safe, secure and fun environment to enhance the quality, growth and retention of theparticipants of the Child Watch program.
