Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Kansas City is seeking a part-time Child Watch Attendant for the Kids Zone. You will care for children ages 12 weeks to 8 years while their parents work out, take a class or spend time at the Y.

Schedule includes weeknights and Saturdays, with one Saturday night a month for Kids Night Out. We offer ongoing training, a free individual YMCA membership, flexible schedules, and opportunities for career advancement.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Certification in Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED within 30 days of employment (training provided).
• Ability, desire, and basic skills to work with children.
• Ability to relate to people on all levels in a friendly and consistent manner.
• Must reflect a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Greet each child and family with a smile as they arrive and leave.
• Follow sign-out procedures to ensure each child is released only to authorized person.
• Care for children ages 12 weeks to 8 years in a safe, clean Kids Zone.
• Lead age-appropriate activities, arts and crafts.
• Follow health practices, including handwashing and cleaning surfaces and toys.
• Keep records of children participating in the program.
• Know safety and emergency procedures and report unsafe conditions immediately.
