The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS), The Division of Child Support Services (DCSS) is the division within DHS that enhances the well-being of children by locating non-custodial parents; establishing paternity and support orders, enforcing and modifying support obligations; and collecting and distributing child support payments. This program promotes parent accountability and self-sufficiency while reducing the public responsibility for providing financial and medical support to children. DCSS also administers several outreach programs to include but not limited to Fatherhood, Prison Re-Entry, and Parental Accountability Court. These outreach initiatives are devoted to increasing non-custodial parental involvement in the child's life.

DCSS is seeking candidates for the position of Child Support Services Agent 1. This position is based at the DCSS office located in Augusta, Richmond County, GA.

Job Description

Pay Grade: E

Under direct supervision, establishes and enforces child support obligations of responsible parents. Coordinates child support activities with legal, judicial, and public organizations.

Role And Responsibilities

  • Registers child support applications, validates locations and establish paternity.
  • Coordinates child support activities with legal, judicial and public organizations.
  • Establishes child support obligations and ensures that such obligations are met.
  • Communicates with clients and other constituents via telephone, email correspondence and direct contact to ensure that support obligations are met.
  • Manages a caseload to ensure that child support cases follow the Same Day Service Standard of Operating Procedure.
  • Performs other professional responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED AND one (1) year of direct job-related experience.

Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate some or all of the following skills/experience in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications.

  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university.
