Job summary

Montana Department of Public Health & Human Services (DPHHS) is seeking a Child Support Investigator 2 to manage a large caseload and help ensure financial and medical support for children through state-administered services. The role emphasizes investigative accuracy, due process, and collaboration with the CSSD to enforce parental obligations.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of investigative principles, due process, administrative and judicial process.
• Knowledge of general collections principles and social service programs.
• Ability to analyze information, make decisions and solve problems.
• Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, business administration, public administration, social work, psychology, or related field.
• Three years job related experience, child support, general investigative or relevant collections experience.
• Other combinations of directly related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a complex caseload (up to 500 cases) and provide state administered child support services.
• Pursue and achieve financial and medical support of children by establishing, enforcing, and increasing public awareness of parental obligations.
