Job summary

State of Louisiana is seeking a CSE Supervisor in the Alexandria region to oversee a unit of social service analysts and support the enforcement of child support obligations. The role includes supervising staff, training, payroll oversight, and maintaining inter-agency relationships.

Work location is Alexandria, LA with a starting SER of $24.35 per hour. Appointment may be probational or up to 48 months, with potential promotion or conversion depending on performance.

Qualifications

• Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of experience in child support enforcement; OR
• A bachelor’s degree plus three years of experience in child support enforcement; OR
• A master’s degree plus two years of experience in child support enforcement.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct-line supervision over a unit of DCFS Child Support Enforcement (CSE) staff that includes Social Service Analysts in the Alexandria Region.
• Assists the CSE Manager in administrative duties related to establishment of paternity, child and medical support orders, and enforcement of obligations.
• Conducts unit and individual trainings; ensures analysts know their responsibilities prior to functioning in courts or outside the office.
• Monitors and approves unit payroll actions to ensure timely and accurate processing.
• Investigates and resolves complaints from custodial parties, non-custodial parties or other individuals.
• Develops and maintains relationships with contract District Attorneys’ offices, Clerk of Courts’ offices, hearing officers, judges, and other agencies.
• Keeps up to date with policy and administrative memorandums.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

This position is located in the Alexandria Child Support Enforcement office.

This position is responsible for administration of the Child Support Enforcement (CSE) program within Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), Division of Family Support. The goal of CSE is to ensure that parents fulfill their obligation to provide financial and medical support for their child/children.

The incumbent in this position will also provide direct supervision over a unit of professional social services staff that provides customer service in the CSE program.

Six years of experience in child support enforcement; OR

Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of experience in child support enforcement; OR

A bachelor’s degree plus three years of experience in child support enforcement; OR

A’s master's degree plus two years of experience in child support enforcement.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

• Monitors and approves unit payroll actions to ensure it is completed timely and accurately.
• Investigates and resolves complaints from custodial parties, non-custodial parties or other individuals.
• Develops and maintains a good working relationship with the contract District Attorneys' offices, Clerk of Courts' offices, hearing officers, judges, and other agency partners, as well as other local, state, and federal agencies.
• Keeps up to date with policy and administrative memorandums.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

Position-Specific Details:

Work Location: This vacancy is located in Alexandria, LA

Compensation: CSE Supervisor position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER): $24.35/hour.

Appointment Type: This position may be filled as a probational appointment or a job appointment that may last up to 48 months. Job appointments may convert to probational appointments. Also, it may be filled as a detail and promoted within 12 months or by promotion of a permanent classified employee.

Work Schedule: Typically, work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday. Flexible work schedules are available after meeting certain criteria and is dependent upon the position you are applying for. Some positions require working shifts.

Louisiana HB420 requires that all prospective DCFS employees complete and clear multiple background checks prior to employment with the agency. NOTE: The incumbent of this position must not have been convicted or pled nolo contendere to a crime listed in R.S. 15.587.1 (c).
