Job summary

State of Maine seeks a Human Services Enforcement Agent in Bangor to conduct investigative work locating non-custodial parents and enforce child support obligations. The role involves establishing paternity and initiating enforcement actions, including court filings, while representing the Department in Maine District Court.

The position begins with training, offers partial telework with management approval after six months, and requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field plus qualifying

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Criminal Justice, Business or Public Administration or related field.
• Directly related paraprofessional or higher-level experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Perform investigative services locating non-custodial parents.
• Establish and enforce child support obligations and collect amounts.
• Establish paternity of children born out of wedlock.
• Initiate administrative collection actions and appropriate court actions.
• Represent the Department’s interests in Maine District Court regarding child support.
