Job summary

State of Maine's Department of Health and Human Services seeks a Human Services Enforcement Agent in Augusta. The position focuses on locating non-custodial parents, enforcing and collecting child support, and establishing paternity, with occasional travel and a hybrid schedule after training.

Key duties include investigative work, initiating court actions, and representing the Department in Maine District Court.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Business or Public Administration or related field.
• Directly related paraprofessional or higher level experience may substitute education on a year-for-year basis.
• Pre-employment screening including verification of minimum qualifications, employment history and references.

Responsibilities

• Locate non-custodial parents and enforce and collect child support obligations.
• Establish paternity of children born out of wedlock.
• Initiate appropriate court actions and represent the Department’s interest in Maine District Court.
• Conduct investigative services to locate non-custodial parents.
• Travel as required and support enforcement activities per policy.
