Job summary

CONSUMER DIRECT CARE NETWORK is seeking a part-time respite care provider to support a child in Wisconsin. The role focuses on maintaining a calm, safe home environment and following an established Seizure Action Plan.

Prior seizure-care experience and reliable transportation are required. The caregiver will provide attentive one-on-one care, assist with community outings as needed, and monitor seizure activity with clear communication.

Qualifications

• Experience working with seizures or complex medical needs.
• Patient, dependable, and understanding.
• Comfortable maintaining routines and a calm pace.
• Able to follow care plans consistently.
• Must have a Driver’s License & reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Provide Attentive one-on-one care in the child’s home.
• Occasional outings in the community.
• Monitor for seizure activity and respond according to the Seizure Action Plan.
• Provide gentle reminders for bathroom use, as delaying may trigger seizures.
• Maintain a calm and predictable environment with slow and clear communication.
• Offer reassurance and support during moments of frustration or feeling overwhelmed.

Our goal is to help individuals be in more control of their own supports and to have a say in who is assisting them. This helps them to stay in their own homes as long as possible.

We are seeking a reliable, patient, and caring Respite Care Provider to offer part-time support when additional help is needed. The expectations for this role are to provide a calm, safe, and engaging environment in the child’s home and, occasionally, in the community.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable supporting an individual who experiences daily seizures and will provide a steady, reassuring presence while following an established Seizure Action Plan.

Hours

6 hours per week (flexible/as needed)

Pay Rate

$14.13/hour

About the child

• Reading books
• Playing on their tablet
• Card/board games
• Going places they are familiar/comfortable with
• Playing outdoors when the weather is nice
• Being spoken to calm and slowly

Responsibilities
