Job summary

Consumer Direct Care Network is seeking a compassionate respite care provider to work part-time in a 1:1 role with a bright, energetic girl who has autism and ADHD. Qualifications

  • Must pass a caregiver background check.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Strong communication and time management skills.
  • Experience working with children with special needs.
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.

  • Provide 1:1 supervision in the child’s home in a safe, supportive environment.
  • Assist and teach daily living skills, including light hygiene, meal prep, and small household tasks.
  • Support the child in gaining independence through positive reinforcement and step-by-step guidance.

  • Maintain open communication with the family to share progress and insights.

This is a heartwarming opportunity for compassionate providers who love making a difference! We work with members throughout Wisconsin to find providers that fit each of their needs. Our goal is to help individuals be in more control of their own supports and to have a say in who is assisting them. This helps them to stay in their own homes as long as possible.

We are seeking a compassionate, dependable individual to provide respite care for a bright, energetic young girl with autism and ADHD. This part-time role goes beyond basic supervision—it’s an opportunity to mentor and guide her as she builds confidence, independence, and practical life skills.

As a Respite Care Provider, you will work closely with the child in her home, supporting engaging routines and hands-on learning experiences that foster growth in a safe, nurturing environment.

Location

Care provided in the child's home and occasional local community outings

Compensation

$18.42/hour

Schedule

Flexible, arranged in advance with parent/guardian

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 supervision in a safe, supportive environment.
  • Assist and teach daily living skills, including light hygiene routines/reminders, meal preparation, and light household tasks.
  • Support the child in gaining independence using positive reinforcement and step-by-step guidance.
  • Encourage social-emotional growth through structured play, consistent routines, and engagement.

Ideal Provider
  • Experience supporting children with disabilities or neurodiverse needs (autism and/or ADHD preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal skills, patience, empathy, and consistency.
  • Ability to follow and adapt to individualized care plan.
  • Comfortable teaching and encouraging life skills in a structured, step-by-step manner.
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
