Job summary

Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) seeks a CPI Investigator Trainee Spec I in Dallas to conduct field-based protective investigations, interview families and professionals, and determine safety and risk for children. The role requires extensive travel, on-call hours, and work outside traditional office settings.

As a vital member of CPS Investigations Region 3E, you will collaborate with law enforcement and courts, document findings, and participate in team-based case

Qualifications

• Knowledge of child development and protective services
• Experience in interviewing and documenting case information
• Ability to travel widely and work in mobile environments

Responsibilities

• Responds quickly in crisis situations involving children who may be in an abusive or neglectful situation.
• Conducts forensic investigations of reports of abuse/neglect to determine if abuse occurred and assesses current or future risk.
• Observes children for signs of harm and assesses whether abuse or neglect occurred as part of investigations
• Interviews families and relevant professionals to gather information and inform case decisions
