Job summary

State of South Dakota, Department of Social Services / Child Protection Services in Sioux Falls, seeks an Intern to support Family Services Specialists. The internship runs Spring (January – May) and requires current enrollment as a part-time or full-time student.

Duties include assisting with cases involving child safety, coordinating family team meetings, recruiting foster and relative placements, and limited travel within the state. Coursework in social work or related field is preferred.

Qualifications

• Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time or full-time student.
• By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year of their program.
• Preference may be given to South Dakota residents or SD institutions.

Responsibilities

• Assist Family Services Specialists with cases involving child safety and risk.
• Coordinate and facilitate family team meetings and support foster/relative placements.
• Travel within the state with Division staff as needed.
