Job summary

The State of Maine’s Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Child and Family Services, seeks a Child Protective Services Caseworker in Farmington to protect the rights and well-being of Maine children. Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field with at least 12 behavioral/social sciences courses.
• LSW licensure eligibility required or obtainable per Maine State Board of Social Worker Licensure.

Responsibilities

• Perform professional social work in child protection, children's services, and adoption.
• Engage families to assess child safety and make plans meeting safety, well-being, and permanency needs.
• Create a team with family, staff, and community resources to support safe solutions.
• Reach factually supported safety decisions with input from all stakeholders.
• Assess child safety, abuse, neglect, and family functioning; identify signs of danger.
• Separate unsafe caregivers from children when court action is required.
• Develop plans focusing on safety, family preservation, or permanent placement.
• Maintain accurate case records and timely reports and memos.
