Job summary

Northeastern School District is seeking a cafeteria attendant to help serve meals to students and maintain a clean, safe dining area. You will assist with food preparation, inventory, and keeping records for condiments and desserts.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and knowledge of sanitation and food safety; prior food service experience is helpful. This is a district position with duties from the Head Cook and Cafeteria Manager.

Responsibilities

Position Purpose

Ensure students and teachers are served their meals in a timely, efficient manner and provide them with a safe, clean environment.

General Duties

Assist with various food preparations according to menu quantities needed, standardized recipes, and methods in a timely manner and oversee the setting-up of the serving line, stocking area with food items, utensils, plates, bowls, napkins, condiments, etc. Ensure items in the serving line are replenished during breakfast and lunch periods. Run terminal during lunch periods and ensure serving line is torn down and items are put away. Maintain a record/count of condiments and desserts leftover before properly storing to prevent spoiling. Ensure proper food handling and sanitation while serving meals and maintain compliance with food safety regulations and procedures while ensuring proper portions are distributed. Responsible for keeping work area and equipment clean and sanitized, which includes, but is not limited to, tables, doors, sinks, mixers, microwave, floors, serving line, warmers, ovens, kettles, dishes, dishwasher, etc. Ensure all equipment is dried properly and stored in appropriate places. Maintain laundry such as aprons, dishcloths, towels, and potholders, ensuring all is clean and available for use during lunch periods. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations associated with school food service operations. Maintain knowledge of operating equipment such as dishwasher, garbage disposal, warmers, etc. Provide assistance in scraping soiled dishes/trays, loading/unloading dishwasher, and stacking/storing clean items. Maintain knowledge of operating point of sale cash register system. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Cook/Cafeteria Manager. Some experience in food service operations is helpful. High school diploma necessary. Knowledge in the food service industry with an understanding of nutrition, sanitation, and food safety.
