Job summary

Montgomery-Public-Schools seeks a Child Nutrition Program Worker to safely prepare and serve nutritious meals to Homewood City Schools students, following federally compliant guidelines and standardized recipes. The role requires standing for long periods and lifting up to 50 pounds.

You will maintain cleanliness, manage inventory and collaborate with staff to ensure a welcoming cafeteria environment. A high school diploma or GED and a valid Food Handler’s card are required.

• Maintains food safety and sanitation by cleaning smallwares, large equipment, cafeteria tables and floors.
• Stocks pantries and inventories food supplies.
• Performs all duties in a timely fashion to avoid delays in scheduled service.
• Documents use of food inventory and production.
• Stands for a majority of the working shift, several hours at a time and lifts up to 50 pounds.
• Maintains a clean, neat personal appearance and wears the appropriate uniform and footwear.
• Practices good hygiene and follows procedures for safe food preparation, serving and storing, including hair restraints and avoidance of jewelry or nails.

POSITION TITLE: Child Nutrition Program Worker

JOB GOAL: Safely prepare and serve appetizing, nutritious and federally compliant meals to Homewood City Schools children while maintaining a clean and cheerful environment

REPORTS TO: Child Nutrition Program Manager/Building principal

QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or GED; Must have Food Handler’s card from the Jefferson County Department of Health

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Prepares, serves and stores food using standardized, written recipes
2. Maintains food safety and sanitation by cleaning smallwares, large equipment, cafeteria tables and floors
3. Stocks pantries and inventories food supplies
4. Perform all duties in a timely fashion to avoid delays in scheduled service
5. Documents use of food inventory and production
6. Stands for a majority of working shift, several hours at a time and lifts up to 50 pounds.
7. To maintain a clean, neat personal appearance and wear appropriate uniform and footwear.
8. To practice good hygiene and follow established procedures for preparing, serving and storing foods in a safe, sanitary manner including hair restraints, avoidance of wearing jewelry or false nails or polish.
9. To maintain a cooperative working relationship with coworkers and managers and exhibit a pleasant attitude in all interaction with students, teachers and visitors.
10. To perform other job related duties that may be reasonably required by the CNP staff and principal.
