Job summary

Talladega County Schools is seeking a Child Nutrition Program Assistant Trainee to support meal preparation, service and sanitation in the school cafeteria. This role participates in training and follows standardized recipes and safety practices to ensure quality meals for students.

The position is 9 months long, with 6 to 7 hours per day, and salary to be set by the Board. Applicants may need to complete and maintain a background check and application on file.

Responsibilities

• Maintains acceptable sanitation standards by practicing proper equipment and personal habits.
• Follows safety standards in storing, preparing and serving food and in using equipment and facilities.
• Assists in portioning, garnishing and serving meals under manager guidance.
• Maintains daily required forms as needed.
• Assists with food production following standardized recipes and handling techniques.
• Follows established personnel practices (time cards, sick leave, etc.).
• Participates in training classes and workshops related to food service.
• Participates in school-community activities.
• Supports cost containment measures while preserving quality.

REPORTS TO: Principal/ Coordinator/ CNP Manager

JOB GOAL: To serve the students attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness and cheerfulness.

Essential functions:

1. Maintains acceptable sanitation standards by practicing appropriate procedures in use and care of equipment and personal habits.
2. Follows standards of safety in storing, preparing and serving food as well as in the use of equipment and the physical plant .
3. Follows manager’s instructions in portioning, garnishing and serving meals.
4. Assist in maintaining daily required forms.
5. Assists with food production following standardized recipes, preparation, service methods and food handling techniques to insure quality standards.
6. Follows procedures in established personnel practices (time cards, sick leave, etc.).
7. Studies assigned food service materials and attends job related training classes and workshops.
8. Participates in school-community activities.
9. Participates in implementing cost containment measures while maintaining quality.Accepts jobs assigned and assumes responsibility for completing tasks satisfactorily.

EVALUATION: Job Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of School Support Personnel.
