Facility: Valleywise Health Medical Center

Department: Women Children Support - Roosevelt

Schedule: Regular FT 36 Hours Per Week

Shifts: Varied

Under the guidance of the Child Life Coordinator, the Child Life Specialist plays a pivotal role in supporting the emotional and developmental well-being of pediatric patients-ranging from infancy through adolescence-and their families. This dynamic role involves assessing individual needs, planning and implementing therapeutic play, educational preparation, and coping support tailored to each child’s developmental stage and healthcare experience.

Caring and flexibility are vital to this role! You must also have completed a Child Life Internship to be considered.

Hourly Pay Rate: $27.00 - $39.83

Qualifications

Education:

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in child Life, Education, Child Development, or related field.
• Master's degree is preferred.
  
  

Experience

• Prefer at least one (1) year of Child Life experience or previous acute care Pediatric experience.
  
  

Specialized Training

• Must have completed a Child Life Internship.
  
  

Certification/Licensure

• Requires a Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) certification or must be attained within the first year of employment.
• CPR Required.
• Requires BLS card obtained through an approved American Heart Association (AHA) training center upon hire.
  
  

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Must possess the ability to work with culturally diverse patients and families.
• Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills both verbally and in writing, including knowledge of basic grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
• Requires the ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English.
• Bilingual Skills desired.
• Excellent organizational skills, time management skills, and the ability to meet designated deadlines are required.
• Must have basic computer knowledge.
