Job description

Job Summary

Child Life Specialists at AdventHealth play a crucial role in promoting positive experiences for children and their families throughout the entirety of their healthcare journey. They focus on the psychosocial development of pediatric patients, provide emotional support, developmentally appropriate information, and play opportunities to aid understanding and coping with medical procedures, diagnoses, pain management, and grief.

Responsibilities
  • Assess developmental needs and risk factors of infants to young adults and provide appropriate resources to promote positive coping skills.
  • Utilize research‑based best practice methods and modalities to prepare pediatric patients for stressful healthcare experiences and procedures.
  • Provide emotional support and stress‑reduction techniques during procedures and throughout the healthcare experience.
  • Use play as a primary resource for patients and siblings to enhance coping, promote mastery/control, and facilitate socialization.
  • Support education and skill development of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Maintain respectful relationships with multidisciplinary team members and administration.

Licenses & Certifications
  • Child Life Specialist Certification (CCLS) required.

  • Salary range: $20.97 - $38.99 per hour.
